I made an experiment: simulated the disappearance of my phone, turned off gps, turned on airplane mode (as if replaced SIM card and turned off geolocation) from another device logged into Google account - no result. try two: simulate that we changed SIM card but turned on geolocation. GPS on, airplane mode on - again 0 result. I turn on the Internet, turn on GPS and only after that my phone was found.
